Renewable Cities Australia 2018 heads to global neutral-carbon leader AdelaidePosted on November 20th, 2017 in News
Renewable Cities Australia (RCA) 2018 will be held on 23-24 May 2018 in Adelaide, a world leader in maximising opportunities in a low-carbon economy. The third RCA Forum, along with the Electric Vehicle (EV) Workshop and Exhibition, will again be co-located with the Australian Energy Storage Conference Exhibition. Registrations to exhibit and sponsor are now open.
Mary Hendriks, RCA Program Manager, said, “The 2018 theme is ‘Taking charge of our energy future’, and with Adelaide having announced its intention to become the world’s first carbon-neutral city, it’s the natural choice to host this event. Together, the city and forum will attract local and international urban planners, government authorities, key sustainable business leaders and those working for our energy transition.”
The Right Hon. Martin Haese, Lord Mayor of the City of Adelaide, said, “The City of Adelaide is leading the way with our transition to a low carbon economy by taking charge of our energy future. We are installing solar PV and energy storage in our own facilities and supporting their uptake by business and residents through the Sustainability Incentives Scheme. Since July 2015, the Scheme has leveraged over $4 million of investment in the City of Adelaide. For every $1 in rebate approved, the community has invested $9.87 in sustainable technologies.”
Ms Hendriks said, “Case studies on the progress of cities in achieving low-carbon outcomes will help attendees with practical examples on planning for 100% renewable-energy use.”
The two-day forum will also share corporate-leadership successes and profile how organisations across Australia have lowered emissions.
“The forum will also look at why it’s important for business to lead, and what is being done not only in Australia, but globally in the business world. Engaging younger generations is vital in progressing the use of clean, renewable energy, and we will also have updates from our Renewable Cities Young Ambassadors.”
The Low Carbon and Electric Vehicle initiatives of South Australia and other Australian states will feature in the dedicated EV Workshop, with discussions about innovative charging infrastructure and the economies of industrial and commercial electric vehicles.
Sam Staples of Exhibitions and Trade Fairs, the forum’s organisers, said, “Renewable Cities Australia is a very practical forum and over the past two years has allowed attendees to keep up to date with new technology, establish relationships with business and government, and understand the challenges and opportunities in the marketplace. The networking event at the end of day one has proven highly popular both years so far and we again encourage attendees to mingle socially at this world-leading clean-energy event in this world-leading clean-energy city.”
Renewable Cities Australia 2018 will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Wednesday 23 & Thursday 24 May 2018. Please visit www.renewablecities.com.au for more information.
