Jonathan Prendergast

Green Infrastructure Project Manager - UTS / Facilities and Projects

Jonathan has a background in Engineering and Commerce, and initially worked for VicUrban and the Dandenong Precinct Energy Project. This saw the implementation of 2MW of Cogeneration and 1km of district energy pipework.

Since moving to Sydney 6 years ago, Jonathan has provided consulting services for implementation of sustainability projects, including a cooling supply contract from Central Park to UTS and 2 Offsite Solar Power Purchase Agreements.

Day:  Wednesday 14th June 2017
Time: 3.45pm – 5.00pm
Presentation Topic: How Commercial Buildings and Tenants can source Off-Site Renewable Energy via Power Purchase Agreements

As large organisations seek to reduce their emissions and become more sustainable, many are looking beyond energy efficiency and onsite renewables to achieve deeper reductions. Offsite renewable energy is an emerging opportunity where large electricity customers can play a more proactive role in Australia’s energy system, to see more renewable energy projects developed and bring down costs of renewables and grid electricity.

In comparison to onsite solar and other options, offsite solar is more cost effective than initially imagined, and has a series of advantages, particularly for commercial buildings and tenants. Jonathan will share his experience of developing 2 such projects at UTS and the potential of greater deployment by others.
