Executive Director of Climate Change and Sustainability - ACT Government

Stephen is currently Executive Director Climate Change and Sustainability in the Australian Capital Territory Government. Prior to this role Stephen was CEO of Beyond Zero Emissions (BZE) and also held various senior executive positions in the Australian Government, both as Assistant Secretary and General Manager in the Department of Climate Change, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and the Clean Energy Regulator. Stephen has worked on climate change for over 20 years with international organisations, academia, government, community and the non-government sectors. He has had the opportunity to lead several significant climate change initiatives in Australia including the design of the mandatory renewable energy target, the carbon price and the National Framework for Energy Efficiency. He has also worked in village communities in the Pacific Islands implementing renewable energy projects, and with the OECD in Paris. Stephen is a Visiting Professor at the Global Change Institute at the University of Queensland.
